About ECC

How it got started

Team EMC2 / Elmhurst Master was founded in 2008 as a grass-roots, non-sponsored racing team.  After years of growth (and some great results), EMC2 decided to give back to the cycling community as well as to the communities in which we live.  In conjunction with Prairie State Cycling, EMC2 hosted the first Elmhurst Cycling Classic in 2013.

In 2014, EMC2 created a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, the DuPage Cycling Foundation (DCF).  DCF created a phenomenal event that has a fantastic reputation with racers, residents, and spectators.  It draws people to a world-class event - a community-building and community-bonding day of racing.

The Elmhurst Park District is a critical part of the event’s success, as the race is adjacent to Wilder Park and Wilder Mansion.  Their incredible staff and guidance help make the Start/Finish area one of the best, most beautiful parties in town.

And the Elmhurst Cycling Classic does not happen without the cooperation and coordination with Elmhurst University.  The race course encircles Elmhurst University and their picturesque campus.

What makes ECC different

The Elmhurst Cycling Classic is the perfect combination of a fast exciting course, residential parties, and crowds around Wilder Park and Wilder Mansion. New in 2024 is the Elmhurst Twilight Mile - a race for some of the fastest milers to run on the same course.  The Elmhurst Cycling Classic is also very easy for racers and spectators to attend because of the ample parking, train access, and the easy walk to downtown Elmhurst.
